International students are not part of the British population. They dont appear on the census as residents (if at all). So I dont know why you are conflating the two numbers.
And yes its a problem that white kids from Birkenhead or Middlesborough are not represented as well. Its not "just how it is" its how its designed.
Because the schools that Oxford take from are also not bringing people from the different classes and racial backgrounds through so Oxford arent picking them.
So either Oxford actually believes that there aren't people on lower incomes and from different racial backgrounds that are intelligent enough to do their courses (I doubt they think that) or they are not doing enough to make sure those people can access Oxford.
The system is getting in the way of reality (there are brainy people everywhere). So the system needs looking in to.

A quick google search shows that 15% and 20% of Oxford and Cambridge students respectively are international students.
According to the 2011 census, 12% of the British population is foreign born. Therefore statistically, foreigners are over represented at Oxford and Cambridge.
Why should anyone complain though? These institutions are supposed to be for the best of the best. The make-up is never gonna be 100% representative and that's just how it is. You can wind yourself up about it looking for some evil racist conspiracy or just live your own life, up to you really.

they are the countries elite university, not a government body that has to tick equality boxes. they only take students with the best grades - if they arent black then how is it the fault of the uni?
surely it's worse that they take someone based on skin colour and not the achievment?

He’s not a hero but he’s a great politician and light years ahead of anyone that is in or near power right now. Why we put up with so much mediocrity in government is astounding. We have some absolutely terrible people leading us right now. And we sit here saying how shit Blair was... really? Can anyone say that with a straight face looking at how May is? How Corbyn is?
Above all I am pragmatic. Iraq was a shit show but you can’t keep throwing out the baby with the bath water. 66 million people need the best leadership we can get and I’m tired of people using Iraq as an excuse so that we have the absolute worst leaders in charge of us.

You may not like his style, whatever. But he’s out here doing his fucking job which is fighting tooth and nail for his constituents and the marginalised people in the community that surrounds him. Lots of MP’s are just silent and do very little and don’t move the needle at all.
Lammy is in some ways a very old school politician and more importantly, he gets things done. Whether it’s Grenfell or wind rush he keeps pushing.
And people saying he’s racist even though his wife is white as well (not a complete indicator of anti racism but a start). I just think people on this site need counselling. Very toxic points of view out there.

I personally know of an instance involving a public sector employee who was rightly going through a disciplinary process for all sorts of massive issues with their 'work'. This person wrote to Lammy complaining about this process, claiming victimisation etc.
Lammy then immediately weighed in with hostile letters to the employer, without investigating the first thing about the issues involved.
Having then been informed about the severity of the (proven) issues, he rapidly backed off.
Absolute schoolboy behaviour.
